Holly Hillyer

Utokia Farms

SESSION 1:

Entourage Effect &

Fresh Cannabis

It all started with Holly, a second generation farm girl from Vernonia, Oregon. A horse-riding accident stole Holly's vibrant world, replacing it with a muted landscape of prescription pills. Trapped in a fog of side effects, she was desperate to find an alternative. She turned to home made cannabis edibles her parents made for her. This experience changed the trajectory of her life forever and became the seed for Utokia.

Brian Niestrath

Green Bandit

Brian Niestrath began growing cannabis under a $10 fluorescent light at age 15—unbeknownst to his parents. The project itself was a failure, but germinating a few seeds and watching them grow sparked a lifelong passion for caring for plants. Today, Brian and his wife, Sarah, own and operate Rolling Cascades Farm in Eagle Point, where they cultivate Green Bandit, top-shelf sungrown cannabis, and run Pepita's Garden, their fruits and vegetables venture. Their farm is Sun+Earth Certified, reflecting their commitment to regenerative, all-natural, and organic practices. Brian believes the best produce is grown with compassion—for the planet and for those who enjoy its fruits.

Riley (1).jpg

Riley Hunter

P3 Distributing

In 2018 Riley was already working on his homestead, as a Portland native and cannabis enthusiast Riley found himself driving for a small packaging supplier based out of Milwaukie delivering Pop tops to dispensaries. Riley and the P3 team couldn’t stand the amount of plastic coming from the industry and packaging he sold and started work to build what would become the P3 Recycling program. Today Riley is P3’s recycling manager as well as the territory manager for the east side of Portland. One of Riley’s key strengths is his ability to innovate and develop systems that work. Our program has gone from a table and some boxes to processing thousands of pounds of plastic and other recyclables per month. Riley has worked to learn the systems in place for processing waste and how to make P3 fit into those systems. Working with local processors Riley has ensured that P3’s materials are finding a viable end market, an integral part of successful recycling. While working at P3 Riley has become well versed in sustainable packaging options in cannabis and is a strong advocate for understanding the entire life cycle of the product. Riley’s passion for sustainability extends into his personal life as well. Growing his own livestock and cultivating his own food, Riley works for a greener future.

Matthew Glyer Photo (1).jpg

Matthew Glyer

Hemp Press/Printed on Hemp

A longtime cannabis enthusiast, Matthew began teaching hemp fiber workshops in 2012 as a way to share his knowledge and catalyze discussion around the virtues, benefits, and vast uses of Cannabis Sativa. Living in Oregon, surrounded by both the majestic old growth trees as well as the logging industry, Matthew recognized the need for an alternative and sustainable paper fiber source, especially in serving the rising demand of the fastest growing industry in the country: Cannabis. His grassroots approach to a hemp-based business is to energize a consumer base toward using everyday hemp fiber goods giving further incentive to domestic farmers to grow industrial hemp and factories to process that hemp. With a focus on hemp paper goods and printing services as well as product and packaging innovation, Matthew’s goal is to restore a sustainable domestic hemp economy that provides meaningful industrial, agricultural and manufacturing jobs to American families.
